The New England Patriots have finally decided to part ways with Josh Gordon. After giving a few weeks to recover from a knee injury, the team has released the veteran wideout.
New England’s acquisition of Mohamed Sanu has made Gordon expendable. It also doesn’t help that he’s missed time due to an injury.
Gordon is no longer the deep threat he once was in Cleveland. Nonetheless, he remains a reliable target for teams in need of help at wide receiver.
While there are probably a few contending teams that would like to add Gordon to their roster, they might not get the chance.
Since Gordon has to clear waivers, there are a handful of bottom-tier teams that will have first dibs.
ESPN’s Field Yates shared a list with the first 10 teams that will have their chance to claim Gordon.
Check it out:
Josh Gordon will be subject to the NFL's waiver wire, with all 31 teams being able to claim him.
Top 10 priority:
1. Dolphins: 0-7
2. Bengals: 0-8
3. Redskins: 1-7
4. Falcons: 1-7
5. Jets: 1-6
6. Giants: 2-6
7. Broncos: 2-6
8. Buccaneers: 2-6
9. Browns: 2-5
10. Chargers: 3-5 https://t.co/DnnB5JQtq2

All these teams would benefit from claiming Gordon. On the other hand, rebuilding franchises might not want to take on the remaining salary that comes with him.
In the event that Gordon makes it through the first 10 teams, it would open the door for a team making a playoff push to potentially claim the former Pro Bowler.
Teams have until 4 p.m. ET tomorrow to claim Gordon. If he clears waivers, he’ll then get the chance to choose where he goes.
