The major NFL news this afternoon comes courtesy of the New England Patriots, who traded for Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon. The deal went through a short time ago.
Acquiring Gordon is a dice roll considering his myriad of issues, but at the price of a fifth-round pick, it could be worth it for New England. If he is locked in, New England just picked up a dangerous new weapon for Tom Brady.
Speaking of dangerous, one NFL writer volunteered to do something hazardous if Gordon wound up going to New England. His tweet is going viral.
Marc Sessler of NFL.com said he would "drink bleach for 1,000 days" if Gordon went to a team in the NFC North, the Jets or the Patriots.
Hopefully he won't follow through on this promise.
The responses to Sessler's tweet are amazing. Talk about tweeting something that backfires, albeit in jest.
Gordon in New England will be an interesting experiment to follow. He could wind up being a valuable component to a championship-caliber team, or he might be off the roster in a few weeks.
