New England jumped out to leads of 17-0 and 31-7 before outscoring the Jets 20-0 in the final quarter. Those final touchdowns drew the ire of at least a couple of Jets players.
After the game, New York offensive tackle Morgan Moses said he and some of this teammates felt the Patriots were guilty of “running up the score.” In the wake of that accusation, an old Belichick quote is going viral.
The quote is from 2007, and let’s just say Belichick is not a believer in the concept of running it up.

New England scored to make it 48-13 after Mac Jones hit Kendrick Bourne on a 46-yard passing play, and the final Patriots TD capped off a nine-play, 78-yard drive. That last march came with New England’s backup offense on the field, though Belichick did have reserve quarterback Brian Hoyer throwing the ball on some plays.
The bottom line is, the Jets can feel however they want, but it doesn’t change the fact they came in off a bye and were noncompetitive from the first snap of the game. It’s not the Patriots’ job to make them feel better about themselves.
