The New England Patriots lost the face of their franchise this week, as Tom Brady is now the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although it's a tough loss for the front office, it's possible the team's next great signal-caller is on his way.

As of right now, the Houston Texans have Deshaun Watson under contract for only one more season. He'll likely command a lucrative extension that will pay him upwards of $30 million per season.

It's uncertain at the moment if the Texans will actually allow Watson to hit the open market. After all, it's extremely rare for a productive quarterback to be available via free agency when they're in their prime.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Watson's future, it hasn't stopped betting experts from posting their odds as to where the Clemson product will play in 2021. According to Sportsbetting.ag, the favorite to be the quarterback of the New England Patriots next year is Watson.

Here's the top three candidates to be the Patriots quarterback in 2021, via Sportsbetting.ag:

  1. Deshaun Watson (+300)
  2. Jarrett Stidham (+500)
  3. Trevor Lawrence (+500)

All three candidates are appealing for New England.

Stidham will have the chance to prove himself this season. If he doesn't show the coaching staff that he can be the successor to Brady, then it would make sense for the Patriots to pursue Watson.

Do you think Watson will be the quarterback of the Patriots in 2021?
