Tom Brady’s playing future in the NFL is uncertain for the first time since he was a rookie. The New England Patriots quarterback is a free agent for the first time.
According to multiple reports, several teams are interested in signing Brady. The father of star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald suggested the Las Vegas Raiders are prepared to offer Brady a two-year contract worth $60 million.
However, it’s unlikely Brady takes his talents to the Raiders – at least if the latest reports are correct. Brady is expected to re-sign with the Patriots, but how much will he cost the team?
Earlier reports suggested the Patriots were comfortable offering Brady a deal around $30 million per season. One former agent thinks the actual deal Brady receives will be a little bit higher.
Joel Corry of CBS Sports predicted the Patriots hand Brady a three-year deal worth $100 million – with $65 million guaranteed.
Here’s what he said about the deal:
Brady has consistently stated he wants to play at until he’s at least 45. He is already in uncharted territory as the oldest full-time starting quarterback in league history. Ben Roethlisberger, who will be 38 in March, sets the older quarterback market. The Steelers gave him a two-year, $68 million extension where $37.5 million was fully guaranteed last April.
It would be weird to see Brady in a jersey other than the New England Patriots. However, it would give the NFL another interesting storyline heading into 2020.
The new league year kicks in on March 18, which is a date to watch for Patriots fans. New England likely wants to wrap up a deal with Brady before then.
Will he take his talents to a different team?
