There will be dozens of Super Bowl commercials this year, per usual, but it’s unclear which ones will make a splash. This year’s Pepsi spot has a good chance given its star power.
Pepsi, as it has in the past, is utilizing a pop star to sell its brand. Cardi B, who took the rap world by storm the past two years, is one of the stars of the ad.
The commercial opens with comedian Steve Carell overhearing a waiter ask a patron if “Pepsi is okay” after she orders a Coke. Carell goes on a rant about how great Pepsi is – because of course.
Eventually, Cardi B and Lil Jon enter with their patented catch phrases. It’s sure to be one of the more clever commercials you’ll see during the game.
The commercial features an odd joke on role playing. It might go over a few peoples’ heads.
Here’s the spot, if you haven’t seen it yet – or if you want to see it again after watching it during the Super Bowl.
This year’s Super Bowl will be played down in Atlanta. It features the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. Commercial spots for the game – which airs on CBS – are going for reportedly around $5.2 million each.
The game will kick off at 6:30 PM ET.
