The New England Patriots have been without All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore for several weeks. However, New England appears to be on the verge of getting Gilmore back.
Gilmore, the NFL’s reigning defensive player of the year, reportedly suffered a knee injury in practice at the end of October. He’s been listed as questionable on the injury report ever since.
This week, Gilmore hinted at a return this weekend.
“I wasn’t physically ready to play these last couple of weeks. Things happen. You have to adjust to it,” Gilmore told reporters. “Nothing would keep me off the field from playing with my teammates. That is one thing that stuck with me.”
He added later: “You really appreciate being out there with your teammates, so that’s one thing I thought about these last couple weeks. I’m happy that I’m back healthy and looking forward to this week.”
Gilmore appeared to confirm his status for Sunday’s game on social media on Saturday morning. The Patriots cornerback is expected to suit up tomorrow.
