There's Growing Speculation Of A Patriots Quarterback Trade

The New England Patriots re-signed Cam Newton this offseason, but that doesn't mean the team is set at the quarterback position.

In fact, there is growing speculation about a potential quarterback trade involving the Patriots as we head into Thursday night's NFL Draft.

New England has the No. 15 overall pick in the first round on Thursday night. Some have suggested that the Patriots will look to trade up to draft a quarterback - potentially Justin Fields - if one starts to fall in the top 10.

Trading up for a quarterback in the draft isn't the only move the Patriots could make, though. There's growing talk that New England could look to trade for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

""I absolutely think it is going to be Mac Jones. I absolutely think that Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be traded, going to be traded to the Patriots," Adam Schein said on CBS Sports.

NBC Sports insider Peter King reported on Sunday that he would not be surprised if the 49ers make a Jimmy G. trade. “It won’t surprise me if the Niners make Jimmy Garoppolo more available than he’s been. In other words, instead of trying to get a first-round pick for him, maybe considering taking a two for him. I wonder if the Patriots would deal the 46th pick in the draft, or their second-rounder in 2022, for their old friend,” King wrote on Sunday.

The Patriots will certainly be one of the most intriguing teams to watch in Thursday night's NFL Draft.
