The Jimmy Garoppolo trade speculation might have been much ado about nothing, it seems.
After much discussion about where the New England Patriots backup might be dealt, it looks like the rising fourth-year pro might not be going anywhere.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Pats aren't expected to deal Garoppolo.
There are a number of teams at the top of the NFL Draft who are in dire need of a quarterback--looking at you, Browns and 49ers. If Garoppolo is indeed off the board, the Browns, 49ers and teams of that ilk might have to reach for one of the top quarterbacks in the upcoming draft or go another route in free agency.
Of course, there's also the possibility this is a bluff on the Patriots part, and they may still go ahead and deal Jimmy G.
Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas thinks so.
The 25-year-old Garoppolo has played in 17 games over the last three seasons, making his first two career starts this year when Tom Brady was suspended.
In those two games--wins over the Cardinals and Dolphins--he completed 42 of 59 passes for 496 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions.
