On Thursday night, the New England Patriots hosted the New York Giants in a battle of organizations at different stages.
New England is battling for back-to-back Super Bowl titles, while New York attempts to ease in a rookie quarterback in Daniel Jones. The easing didn’t work out too well last night as the Giants faced the NFL’s toughest defense.
The Patriots’ defense and special teams took over en route to a 35-14 win.
However, the on-field spectacle wasn’t what captured everyone’s attention last night. Former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski made his debut as an analyst for FOX Sports on Thursday night.
In true Gronk fashion, he made an extremely odd reference when breaking down the tape on wide receiver Julian Edelman.
Gronk referenced Edeleman’s nickname, “squirrel,” and went on to confirm that Edelman is a squirrel who “gets that nut.”

Gronk’s pregame statements about Edelman seem to have paid off.
The Patriots wide receiver racked up nine receptions for 113 yards on 15 targets against a porous Giants defense on Thursday night.
Tom Brady’s favorite target came up big for the quarterback on a night where inclement weather made it difficult for Brady to throw outside.
In the end, the Patriots moved to 6-0 on the season.
