The 2020 NFL season officially starts in March, but the games won't kick off for another few months. The new league year officially kicks in on March 18.

As teams gear up for the NFL combine later this month and draft in April, the fans have their eyes on the 2020 campaign. On Wednesday afternoon, CBS Sports released a list of the team with the most difficult schedules.

The New England Patriots generally face one of the easier schedules during the season thanks to the poor play from the AFC East. However, after the Buffalo Bills and to a lesser extent the New York Jets emerged in 2019, Bill Belichick and company now face the toughest schedule in 2020.

The Jets and Miami Dolphins follow shortly behind the Patriots, though the Bills are not in fourth place. That designation belongs to the San Francisco 49ers, who contend with the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams in the division.

Here's the top five:

  1. New England Patriots
  2. New York Jets
  3. Miami Dolphins
  4. San Francisco 49ers
  5. Three-way tie between Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons

The full list can be found here.

While those seven programs face tough tests during the 2020 season, a few playoff contenders will have an easy road to the postseason. The Baltimore Ravens own the easiest schedule in the NFL, followed shortly behind by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Of course, the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns should be much improved heading into 2020.
