It took almost five-and-a-half games, but the New England Patriots finally surrendered a passing touchdown on defense.
It happened midway through the second quarter of tonight’s game against the New York Giants. Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones hit Golden Tate on a 64-yard scoring play.
Tate and Jones had just missed connecting on what would have been a big gain on third down the previous drive, so this hookup had to give each a dose of confidence.
Jones had also thrown two interceptions in the first half before this play.

It is a surprise to see the Patriots give up a big play like this, but hey, they were going to concede a passing touchdown at some point. No defense is perfect.
What is even more shocking is the 2-3 Giants have since knotted the score at 14. Markus Golden scooped up a Tom Brady fumble, forced by Lorenzo Carter, and returned it for a touchdown.
