ArDarius Stewart is one of a number of top wide receivers to enter the NFL out of Alabama over the last few years. The former national champion will be looking for a new pro home now though.
Stewart was a third round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. He left Alabama after three seasons, two of which he spent as a major part of the Crimson Tide offense.
Today, the Jets made the decision to waive ArDarius Stewart.
The team made the announcement earlier today.
Stewart served a two-game suspension to begin the year, for violating the league's performance enhancing substance policy. He returned to the team Monday.
This preseason, Stewart caught five passes for 41 yards. Last year, he appeared in 15 games and had six catches for 82 yards. He also ran the ball seven times for 27 yards.
At Alabama, he had his highest catch total for the 2015 national championship-winning team. That year, he hauled in 63 passes for 700 yards and four touchdowns.
He was more explosive the following year, with Jalen Hurts under center. That year, he had 54 catches for a team-leading 864 yards and eight scores.
