Labor Day Weekend is a holiday for many across the country. That means reconnecting with family and taking a weekend off before heading back to work.

For players on the bubble of an NFL roster, it's anything other than a holiday. Over 1,000 players will be cut from rosters before the 2019 regular season kicks off on Thursday night.

Among the early cuts was a surprise from the Buffalo Bills. The team released star running back LeSean McCoy.

Another New York team made a surprising cut today as well. The New York Jets decided to move from from defensive end Jachai Polite.

Jets insider Manish Mehta broke the news.

Polite has all the talent in the world, but there are serious off-field concerns and doubts about his conviction.

Early mock drafts had Polite going in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft. However, after he showed up to the NFL combine with a little extra weight and had issues in the interview process, Polite slid down draft boards.

The Jets took a shot on the former Florida Gator in the third round, but it's clear he didn't make an impact on the team.

New general manager Joe Douglas wasted no time removing him from the roster.
