With the need to add another quarterback to the roster following Trevor Siemian's season-ending injury, the New York Jets are reportedly signing veteran backup David Fales.

A sixth-round draft pick ion 2014, Fales spent time with Jets head coach Adam Gase in Chicago in 2015 and Miami in 2017-18. He has appeared in three games in his NFL career.

In those three games, Fales is 31-of-48 passing for 287 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He will back up Luke Falk this weekend in New England.

The Jets probably never thought they would be in the situation where they would need to sign David Fales before Week 3, but that was before Sam Darnold got mono and Siemian suffered ankle damage.

Falk will start against the Patriots on Sunday as the Jets try to avoid falling to 0-3. He will certainly have his work cut out for him.

With two games against New England plus matchups with the Cowboys and Eagles on the horizon, an 0-6 start is a real possibility.
