Zach Wilson's first season as starting quarterback of the New York Jets was a rough one to say the least. Heading into his second year under center, he opened up his mindset for 2022.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Wilson made it clear that he needs to do his part to make the team better. He acknowledged that the team has the confidence in him and he needs to justify their trust.

“I appreciate their confidence in me, and I think they understand that quarterback efficiency in this league, overall, not even just in my standpoint, it’s how you win games, it’s how you be explosive on offense,” Wilson said, via ProFootballTalk. “So, I need to do my part, I need to get better. I need to let the guys around me make the plays that they were brought in for. I’m excited that we’re in that process of building it together and we all get to kind of ride the wave together as well.”

But Wilson clearly has a lot of work to do. He ranked among the worst starting quarterbacks in the NFL last year, throwing for 2,334 yards and just nine touchdowns with 11 picks.

But not everything that went wrong for the Jets in 2021 can be laid on Zach Wilson. The defense didn't exactly do its part most weeks, finishing dead last in points and yards allowed.

However, the Jets have made some investments this offseason that should mend some of the many holes the team has.

And with their incredible array of draft picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, they might be able to get more reinforcements.
