Baltimore Ravens Release Statement On Team’s Situation

Unfortunately for the Baltimore Ravens, the last few weeks have been rather stressful. The organization faced one of the most widespread COVID-19 outbreaks in the NFL this season, as many players and staff members tested positive for the virus.

The Ravens, amidst the concern for the health of the team, also needed to reschedule their division match-up with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The game was originally scheduled to take place on Thanksgiving night, but got called off in order to protect members of both organizations. After three postponements, the two teams met on Wednesday afternoon in an unprecedented weekday contest. Ultimately, the Steelers won 19-14, but the game showed impressive resilience from both organizations as well as the NFL.

As the league heads into a fresh week of games, it looks like Baltimore has turned a corner.

On Saturday afternoon, Ravens team president Dick Cass released a full statement, addressing the situation in its entirety. He expressed his gratitude for the league’s flexibility as well as the patience from the the Steelers and the Cowboys.

He continued on and explained how the virus spread within the Baltimore locker room. Although Cass maintained that the Ravens have taken the protocols very seriously from the onset of the regular season, he acknowledged that the regulations are only as effective as “the weakest link.”

Finally, he apologized for the incidents and called upon others to learn from the organization’s mistakes.

As the Ravens continue to recover from the outbreak, head coach John Harbaugh must prepare for another game. Baltimore hopes to get quarterback Lamar Jackson back after he tested positive for the virus last week.

The Ravens will take on the Dallas Cowboys at 8:05 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
