It turns out the Cincinnati Bengals will have to wait at least another week to see A.J. Green make his season debut. He’ll miss this weekend’s game against the Baltimore Ravens due to a lingering ankle injury.
Green originally suffered an ankle injury during training camp. As a result, the star wideout missed all of the preseason and the first half of the regular season.
Head coach Zac Taylor thought Green would return to the Bengals after the bye week. Unfortunately, the offense will have to go another week without its best player.
After completing a team walkthrough on Wednesday, Green told the coaching staff that his ankle was swollen once again.
Since the team wants to be cautious with its former first-round pick, it appears he’ll be out for Week 10.
When asked if he’ll play this Sunday, Green said “Probably not.”

This is a tough blow for rookie quarterback Ryan Finley, who will make his first start on Sunday. Cincinnati decided to name him the starter over Andy Dalton after its loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Considering that Cincinnati is the only winless team remaining in the NFL, there’s absolutely no reason to rush Green’s rehab process.
Perhaps, the former Georgia star will make his 2019 season debut next Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.
