Joe Mixon had a breakout season in 2018 en route to becoming a household name. This season has been quite different for the second-round pick due to a lingering ankle injury.

Cincinnati is off to an 0-2 start to the season under head coach Zac Taylor. An issue for the team is that Mixon hasn't been able to have much success on the ground.

Through the first two weeks of the season, Mixon has 27 rushing yards. He's also had five receptions for 17 yards during that span.

It's not a coincidence that Mixon's production has been disappointing at the same time that he's nursing an injury. However, the talented running back is recovering well.

Mixon wasn't listed on Cincinnati's injury report on Wednesday, per NFL insider Adam Caplan. This means he practiced in full capacity today.

If Mixon can practice fully all of this week, it'd be a strong sign that he's close to 100 percent.

Cincinnati could use Mixon's production in the running game to help set up its passing attack.

With A.J. Green still out of action, the Bengals have relied heavily on Tyler Boyd and John Ross III. The offense needs another playmaker until its All-Pro wideout returns.

The Bengals face the Buffalo Bills this weekend. Expect a heavy dose of Mixon in that matchup.
