The Cincinnati Bengals are expected to select Joe Burrow with the first pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. But many are suggesting Burrow should refuse to play for the ailing franchise.
Several past top draft picks – most notably Eli Manning – have followed a similar strategy. It’s no secret that playing for Cincinnati would bring about plenty of challenges. For Burrow, he’d have plenty of work to do to try and save the organization.
Many believe Burrow is capable of doing just that. But others have recently suggested that Burrow should leverage the situation to try and find a way out of becoming a Bengal. ESPN’s Mel Kiper is sick and tired of the Cincinnati disrespect, though.
The draft expert joined ESPN’s First Take on Monday morning to discuss Burrow’s current situation. He had some strong words for those who continue to disrespect the Bengals.
“This notion the Bengals have just been horrible and losing all the time and never even getting anywhere is ridiculous,” Kiper said. “I think for Joe Burrow – he’s going to be the No. 1 pick, he’s going to be a Cincinnati Bengal.”
Kiper’s full comments on the situation can be found below:

It doesn’t look like the Burrow rumors are adding up. It’s still very likely the 2019 Heisman winner is heading to Cincinnati.
