On Thursday night, the Cleveland Browns host the Pittsburgh Steelers in a huge AFC North rivalry game.
Pittsburgh holds a two-game lead on Cleveland in the division, but the Browns can cut that deficit in half with a win tonight. Baker Mayfield and company came into the 2019 season with plenty of hype, but it hasn’t worked out so far.
Sitting at 3-6 on the season, tonight’s game is as close to a “must-win” game as there is in the NFL. Seven losses might not cut it in the AFC playoff race, so the Browns need a key win over a division opponent without its starting quarterback.
Before the teams take the field, Mayfield’s wife had a message for him.
“Proud and thankful,” she said about the star quarterback on Instagram.
Mayfield has bounced back over the past two games after struggling through much of the season. The former Oklahoma star has over 500 passing yards and three passing touchdowns over his past two games – with zero interceptions.
Now he faces a defense that has forced the second-most turnovers in the NFL this season.
Both Cleveland and Pittsburgh need a win tonight to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Browns and Steelers kicked off at 8:20 p.m. ET on FOX and the NFL Network.
