After a long and frustrating week, Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns went into today’s game against the Buffalo Bills needing a win. It’s still early in the game, but after what Mayfield just did, the Browns’ confidence is way up.
On Cleveland’s opening drive, Mayfield executed almost flawlessly. He went 4-of-5 for 54 yards, culminating in a 17-yard touchdown pass to Jarvis Landry.
Even better, the Browns didn’t force-feed the ball to Odell Beckham Jr. as they had hinted at earlier this week. Mayfield distributed the ball evenly, targeting four different players with his first five passes.
Kicker Austin Seibert missed the extra point, but the Browns still finished the drive with a 6-0 lead.
Needless to say, fans and pundits alike were delighted to see Mayfield looking like the Mayfield of old, even for a single drive. Fans took to Twitter and immediately asserted that he looks like “2018 Baker.”

It’s been hard to argue that Mayfield hasn’t regressed this year after a record-setting rookie season.
His numbers are almost all down from last year despite getting a litany of new weapons to throw to and running backs to take the burden off.
The Browns are 2-6 heading into this game, but could be 3-6 if Mayfield plays this well the rest of the way.
