Over the weekend, star quarterback Baker Mayfield called out the Cleveland Browns medical staff. Mayfield suggested the staff mishandled wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s sports hernia.
Mayfield suggested Beckham should have had surgery on his nagging injury during training camp so it wouldn’t be such a big deal down the stretch.
The Browns quarterback eventually apologized for his comments, but FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd didn’t want to hear it. He called out Mayfield – for the 1,000th time – for what he said about the Browns medical staff this weekend.
“That ‘C’ on your uniform stands for captain, not cocky… The opposite of leadership is calling out co-workers. This door was opened by Baker Mayfield,” Cowherd said.

Cowherd continually calls out Mayfield for his brash comments – both when he was at Oklahoma and now that he’s in the NFL. The host repeatedly suggests he would not have drafted Mayfield if he were a general manager – because of his personality.
It’s clear the quarterback can do no right in Cowherd’s eyes.
However, Cowherd isn’t wrong, this time. Mayfield’s choice to call out the medical staff puts the entire Browns organization in a bad light.
As for Mayfield and the Browns, they face off against Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals this weekend.
