Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns are having a messy breakup. Kevin Stefanski is still hoping they can remain friends, though.

Stefanski and the Browns moved on from Mayfield the moment they started inquiring about Deshaun Watson. Then, the unexpected happened when the team acquired the former Texans quarterback in a blockbuster trade.

Although Mayfield is still currently a Brown, he'll be moved eventually. Stefanski would like to smooth things over before then.

The Browns head coach told reporters on Monday that he's hoping for some "closure" between him and Mayfield.

“I think we’ll see,” Stefanski said, via Pro Football Talk. “I think everybody understands the situation. We’re hoping that there’s closure to it at some point.”

Kevin Stefanski could help such a cause by trading Baker Mayfield to a team where he has the opportunity to start right away.

The Seattle Seahawks feel like the obvious landing spot. They traded Russell Wilson to the Broncos and are now expected to start Drew Lock. Mayfield is a clear upgrade over the former Missouri star and would be pretty fun out in the NFC West.

Some have speculated somewhere like Tampa Bay could also be an option. The Bucs would like to invest in their future at the quarterback position. Tom Brady will eventually re-retire. Allowing Mayfield to study Brady from the bench for a year could be a significant step in his development.
