Johnny Manziel was not drafted until the 22nd pick of the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. If it had been up to Jon Gruden, he would have been taken a lot sooner.

Hours before the first round of this year's draft, an old compilation of Gruden trying to plead his case for Manziel to be picked during the 2014 first round is going viral on Twitter, thanks to Old Takes Exposed.

In the clip, Gruden can be seen advocating to Manziel to be picked by Houston, Oakland, Tampa Bay, Tennessee and Dallas. He first starts stumping for the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner before the No. 1 pick has even been announced, even though it was widely expected to be--and was--Jadeveon Clowney.

All five of those teams would have been significantly worse off had they taken Johnny Football.

Of course, we all know what wound up happening. Manziel went to Cleveland, flamed out of the NFL spectacularly and was last seen playing Fan Controlled Football.

It just goes to show you that even the so-called experts whiff, sometimes spectacularly.
