The NFL has given players considerably more latitude with what they wear onto the field these days than they used to. But when Browns star wideouts Odell Beckham Jr and Jarvis Landry made their own fashion statement with their cleats, the league put their foot down.
During the CBS broadcast, sideline reporter Jay Feely reported that Beckham and Landry were ordered to change their cleats at halftime or risk being ejected from today’s game against the Denver Broncos.
Beckham wore a pair of orange cleats, while Beckham’s “Joker” cleats had a multi-color design and resembled a clown face.
The irony of Beckham’s cleat design was not lost on several pundits and analysts.
Jay Feely reports the NFL told Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry to change their shoes at halftime or they won’t be allowed to play.

.@CBSSports reporting that Odell Beckham Jr and Jarvis Landry have to change their cleats at halftime or they’ll be ejected from the game. Beckham is wearing Clown cleats. Which is fitting. Brown are a circus.

The Cleveland Browns are currently 2-5 and in a dogfight with the 2-6 Broncos. They trail Denver 17-12 at halftime.
As for Beckham and Landry, the two Browns stars have combined for five receptions for 39 yards so far.
This isn’t the first time a Browns wideout has been penalized over a fashion statement. Odell Beckham Jr. was fined $14,000 earlier this season for wearing a luxury watch during a game.
Hopefully they brought an extra pair of NFL-approved cleats with them to Denver, otherwise Baker Mayfield will find himself without his two best receivers.
The game is currently being played on CBS.
