Pro Bowl wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is set to test the free agency waters when the new league year starts. So far, it looks like the suitors are lining up for him.
According to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Smith-Schuster is drawing interest from no less than four teams. The Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars are all expressing interest. He could re-sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers too.
Smith-Schuster was limited to just five games in 2021 due to a season-ending shoulder injury. He had 15 receptions for 129 yards but no touchdowns.
Smith-Schuster ranks among the top free agent wide receivers available heading into free agency. He'll likely command a very tidy sum when all is said and done.
In his first two seasons, JuJu Smith-Schuster appeared on pace to become one of the best receivers in the NFL. He had 169 receptions for 2,343 yards and 14 touchdowns, making the Pro Bowl in 2018.
But injuries in 2019 pumped the brakes on Smith-Schuster's rapid rise. He appeared to recover in 2020 with 97 receptions for 831 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns.
The bigger issue for Smith-Schuster might be how he's viewed in the Steelers' locker room. His fondness for social media has been an issue with head coach Mike Tomlin at times. Maybe it will be an issue for his next team too.
Will JuJu Smith-Schuster sign with a new team this offseason?
