Normally, one would assume that there would be a pretty serious market for Antonio Brown. The outgoing Pittsburgh Steeler is probably the best NFL wide receiver of the last four or five years.
However, there are some definite hangups that could be stalling a trade. It looked like a deal was in place with Buffalo, but Brown reportedly “nixed” a potential deal with the Bills.
We are coming off of a season in which Brown’s teammate Le’Veon Bell punted on a full year. If Brown threatens a similar move, it makes it very hard for Pittsburgh to deal him.
There has still been a ton of speculation. A friend of Brown’s appeared to hint at the Raiders as being a potential landing spot, on an Instagram Live video that Brown posted on Friday.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Antonio Brown also wants a big new deal from his next team.
The remainder of the five-year deal that Brown signed with Pittsburgh is worth about $39 million over three seasons.
La Canfora says that there are rumors that Brown wants a new deal in the $18-$20 million range.
Word on these NFL streets is that Antonio Brown wants $18M-$20M per year on a new deal. Yikes. Good luck with that. What a mess

This comes hours after a Jeremy Fowler piece detailing how Odell Beckham’s massive Giants contract may have set the stage for Brown’s standoff with the Steelers.
Rumblings began to surface that Antonio Brown took note of the new money hitting the receiver market and would want to get in on it soon enough. Brown had just signed a five-year, $72.7 million extension a year earlier, but there was a vision.
Brown would cash in again.
Less than seven months later, Brown was posting pictures of agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus working at a table at Brown’s home as the Steelers were inching closer to trading the All-Pro receiver. Drew Rosenhaus and Brown can hammer out parameters for a new deal with his new team — despite having three years left on his contract.
There has to be a market for a guy like Brown, who may be aging but is coming off of yet another fantastic season, and has been a consistently elite player for the bulk of his career.
Everything surrounding the situation makes it incredibly fascinating, though. We keep hearing that a trade could come soon, so stay tuned.
