On Monday, the Washington Redskins fired Jay Gruden after just five games into the season. One of the reported candidates for the job opening is Mike Tomlin.
Washington is linked to several offensive-minded coaches, such as Eric Bieniemy. And yet, there are reports about the front office having interesting in the Steelers head coach.
Tomlin is dealing with a tough situation in Pittsburgh at the moment. He’s lost Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell and Ben Roethlisberger over the past few seasons.
As the Steelers prepare to face the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday night, the speculation surrounding Tomlin to the Redskins won’t go away.
In fact, the media asked Tomlin about those reports on Tuesday.
“Guys, I’m the head coach of a 1-4 football team going on the road to play a Hall of Fame quarterback with my 3rd string QB,” Tomlin said. “You think I’m worried about anything this week other than that?”

There’s no indication that Tomlin would leave Pittsburgh to join Washington’s coaching staff next season.
Tomlin is currently under contract through the 2021 season.
It’ll be interesting to see how these rumors involving Tomlin play out. His priority right now is with the Steelers, but that won’t stop speculation from rising as the year goes on.
