It’s apparent that Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are taking a “next man up” approach this season. They’ll need that to continue this weekend as the offense could be without JuJu Smith-Schuster.
Pittsburgh announced on Friday that James Conner is out for this Sunday’s clash with the Los Angeles Rams. Jaylen Samuels will be the lead running back this weekend.
Now, the Steelers have to worry about Smith-Schuster’s availability for Week 10.
Despite practicing in full capacity on Wednesday and Thursday, Smith-Schuster popped up on the injury report this afternoon because of a toe injury.
NFL Network reporter Omar Ruiz shared Friday’s injury report on Twitter.
Check it out:
James Conner has been ruled OUT for the #Steelers vs the #LARams. Ramon Foster, Bennie Snell & Roosevelt Nix won’t play either. JuJu Smith-Schuster popped up on the injury report as questionable with a foot injury. Full list👇🏼 pic.twitter.com/UedalnrdSO

Ramon Foster, Bennie Snell and Roosevelt Nix are all listed as out for this Sunday.
If the Steelers don’t have Smith-Schuster this weekend, it’ll be tough for them to sustain success on offense. Mason Rudolph is already without his top running back, so at the very least he’ll need his No. 1 wide receiver on the field.
Smith-Schuster would go up against All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey this Sunday – if the Steelers list him as active.
Even though Smith-Schuster doesn’t have former co-star Antonio Brown or star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger helping him out this year, he’s still putting up solid numbers. Through eight games he’s totaled 33 receptions for 459 yards and three touchdowns.
We’ll find out in the coming days if Smith-Schuster is healthy enough to suit up.
