This hasn’t been a fun offseason for Deshaun Watson. He lost his best target, DeAndre Hopkins, in an unexpected and lopsided trade.
Watson still technically has two years on his rookie deal, but the Texans will likely want to lock him in long-term as soon as possible. However, he might not be so keen to do that given how head coach/GM Bill O’Brien has mismanaged things lately.
Earlier today, Watson tweeted out Drake lyrics. Bleacher Report NBA writer Tyler Conway quote-tweeted Watson, along with some other famous Drake lyrics and a picture of Bill Belichick on the phone. The implication was that Belichick was ‘calling’ Watson to see if he’d be interested in playing for him.
“I’m just sayin’ you could do better, tell me have you heard that lately?” Conway wrote, quoting “Marvin’s Room.”
Well, Watson not only saw the tweet, he ‘liked’ it as well. Assuming the acknowledgment of Conway’s message wasn’t done accidentally, this makes for a fun conversational topic with no live sports to worry about.

Could a Watson/New England pairing actually happen? Well, the Patriots likely don’t have Tom Brady’s long-term replacement on the roster right now.
Last week, oddsmakers installed Watson as the betting favorite to be the Patriots’ starting quarterback in 2021. That doesn’t mean anything yet, but it is worth keeping an eye on.
