As of this morning, the Texans are reportedly open to trading their star quarterback and are ready to listen to offers. It’s a turn of events that many didn’t see coming. But Watson’s personal coach might have.
On Friday’s edition of the Adam Schefter Podcast, Watson’s coach Quincy Avery predicted that Watson would be traded by Sunday. But when pressed, he said that if not Sunday, Watson will be traded in the future.
“I just think Deshaun is going to get traded before this Sunday,” Avery said, much to Schefter’s bewilderment. “I’m 100-percent sure he’ll be traded at some point in the coming future. I think the Texans have made the decision to move on.”
While Avery’s prediction didn’t come true, he wasn’t far off in terms of the Texans finally giving in.

Deshaun Watson has been on the outs with the Houston Texans since the end of the 2020 season. His beef with the team allegedly began when the top brass reneged on a pledge to give him input into their search for a new head coach and GM.
The Texans settled on Nick Caserio and David Culley, allegedly disregarding all of Watson’s suggestions in the search.
That beef preceded stunning assault allegations leveled against Watson, which have hung over his head for months. No decision on his playing status for 2021 has been reached as of yet.
Regardless of what that decision on Watson is, it now appears much clearer than a few days ago that it will be with another team.
