Despite so much uncertainty surrounding his legal situation, Deshaun Watson could be on the move this offseason.
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, multiple teams are willing to make a deal to land Watson without a settlement of his 22 civil lawsuits.
During the 2021 season, there were some reports that stated Watson was almost traded to the Miami Dolphins. However, they refused to trade for Watson without a settlement.
The Carolina Panthers, meanwhile, were reportedly willing to make a deal for Watson regardless of his civil cases. Perhaps that means their front office will go back to the drawing board to figure out how they can bring the Pro Bowl quarterback to Carolina.
All we know at this time is that fans are awfully confused by this saga. Some fans believe this is all just smoke from Houston's side, while others believe the Panthers are desperate for a new signal-caller.
"Sounds to me like the Texans are trying to drum up some urgency to get this off their plate," one fan said.
"This screams Carolina, not sure if Deshaun would waive his no trade clause for them tho," another fan tweeted.
"Trading for him now while these lawsuits are ongoing, might be able to get him at a discount," a third fan said.
When it comes to his skillset, Watson is unquestionably one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. In 2020, he had 4,823 passing yards, 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The problem here is that Watson's legal situation is still unclear. If a team trades for him before all the dust clears, they could be making a huge gamble that could blow up in their face.
