According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Colts have activated Wentz off the reserve/COVID-19 list. Wentz went on the list several days ago, along with center Ryan Kelly and wide receiver Zach Pascal.
By virtue of coming off the list, the way is now clear for Wentz to start in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks. Given that he’s just weeks removed from foot surgery, that has to have Colts fans practically giddy.
But the news isn’t all good for the Colts on this Thursday morning. The team also put rookie quarterback Sam Ehlinger, Pro Bowl wide receiver T.Y. Hilton and second-year wideout Dezmon Patmon on injured reserve. Their seasons are effectively over.

Last year the Indianapolis Colts went 11-5 with Philip Rivers at the helm. They had a top 10 offense and a top 10 defense that year as they finished second in the AFC South and made the playoffs.
But after Rivers retired, the Colts moved quickly to acquire his replacement. Fortunately for them, Carson Wentz was made available by head coach Frank Reich’s former team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Colts aren’t the consensus AFC South favorites though. The Tennessee Titans hold that honor.
But if Carson Wentz is able to return to the form he had in 2017, the Colts might be able to make a title run.
