Donald Trump has weighed in Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson's tragic death.
Early Sunday morning, Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson was one of two people killed by a drunk driver. The other victim was Jackson's Uber driver, 54-year-old Jeffrey Monroe, who had pulled to the side of the road to help Jackson after he became ill.
The man who struck and killed the pair, 37-year-old Manuel Orrego-Savala, was an illegal immigrant from Guatemala who reportedly had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit. Orrego-Savala had previously been deported twice.
Donald Trump campaigned heavily on the issue of immigration, particularly illegal immigration. Therefore, it isn't surprising that the president weighed in on Twitter.
Trump commented on Jackson's death with a pair of tweets earlier Monday morning.
"So disgraceful that a person illegally in our country killed @Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson. This is just one of many such preventable tragedies. We must get the Dems to get tough on the Border, and with illegal immigration FAST!" read Trump's first tweet.
His second one offered condolences to Jackson's family and called the 26-year-old "a wonderful young man."
"My prayers and best wishes are with the family of Edwin Jackson, a wonderful young man whose life was so senselessly taken. @Colts," Trump said.
Orrego-Savala has yet to be charged, but is currently being held in jail in Indiana.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Jackson's family.
