The Jaguars and Saints might not have a ton in common, but both teams are currently relying on their backup quarterback. Gardner Minshew and Teddy Bridgwater have kept their teams afloat through the first month of the season.
Minshew came in to replace Nick Foles, who suffered a collarbone injury in Week 1. Despite being just a rookie, the Washington State product is showing that he belongs in the NFL.
As of right now, it’s not wrong to say that Minshew deserves to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.
During his media session on Wednesday, the Jaguars quarterback was asked about facing the Saints without Drew Brees. His response was as genuine as possible.
“No, I’m glad he’s not playing, right? Geez. I mean I hope to meet him, that’d be cool. He’s a great player, but Teddy Bridgwater is playing great as well so we have to come out and be ready.”

New Orleans is 3-0 with Bridgewater as the starter this season. He’s kept the Saints at the top of the NFC South when all hope seemed lost.
Bridgewater will need a strong performance on Sunday to keep pace with Minshew and the Jaguars.
Kickoff for this game is at 1 p.m. ET from TIAA Bank Field.
