The Jacksonville Jaguars' shopping spree isn't over yet. On Wednesday, the team officially announced the signing of defensive end Arden Key.
Key, a former third-round pick out of LSU, had a breakout season with the San Francisco 49ers in 2021. He finished the season year with 22 tackles, 17 quarterback hits and 6.5 sacks.
Though he didn't receive a long-term deal from the Jaguars, Key has to be thrilled about this opportunity. Considering the Jaguars' pass rush isn't very effective, he should have a chance to receive a lot of snaps this fall.
As for the Jaguars' fan base, it sounds like most of their supporters approve of this signing.
"Very good signing," one fan said.
"Coming off a 6.5 sack season. Brings in depth and fresh legs for those longer drives," a Jaguars fan tweeted. "1 year deal that can pay up to 7 mil post incentives."
"Kinda dope signing," another fan wrote.
It's hard to argue against this move. Not only does the Key signing address an area of need, he's not going to cost an awful lot.
Key, meanwhile, will get the chance to prove that his 2021 season wasn't a fluke. And if he does just that, he should receive a nice payday next offseason.
