It is Wednesday, September 25 and Jalen Ramsey is still a Jaguar. How much longer that remains true is anyone's guess.
Ramsey called out sick on Monday, causing many to speculate he was just biding his time until a trade happened. If you recall, Ramsey requested a trade from the Jags following a Week 2 loss in Houston.
Last night, ESPN's Josina Anderson reported that Ramsey is expected back at the team facility today. Wednesday is the official start of a typical game week in the NFL.
Interestingly, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added this morning that while Ramsey is expected back with the Jaguars today, he is apparently dealing with back and hamstring trouble.
Therefore, it doesn't seem guaranteed that he will practice at all.
Finally, ESPN's Adam Schefter deemed it "an upset" if Ramsey plays this weekend against the Broncos in Denver.
The two-time Pro Bowler did suit up and play amid all the trade rumors in last Thursday's win over the Tennessee Titans.
It will be interesting to see how long this winds up dragging out. Given the fact Ramsey had a sideline altercation with head coach Doug Marrone two weeks ago and reportedly isn't fond of general manager Tom Coughlin, it seems unlikely that he would remain in Jacksonville.
The NFL trade deadline is October 29, so there's a month or so for a deal to be worked out. The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs are among the teams that have been linked to Ramsey.
