We're just three weeks into the NFL season, but the Tennessee Titans are making a huge change on the offensive side of the ball. Although they're coming off back-to-back wins over Houston and Jacksonville, Rishard Matthews isn't thrilled with his role.

Matthews has only three receptions for 11 yards so far, which is a drastic decline from his 2017 season. Now that Corey Davis and Tajae Sharpe are receiving the majority of snaps for the Titans, Matthews wants out of Tennessee.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Matthews told A to Z Sports that he asked to be released.

The timing of this news is quite odd, especially considering that Matthews signed an extension through 2019 in August.

Regardless of his struggles this year, Matthews is still fairly young. The 28-year-old wideout had 795 receiving yards and four touchdowns just one season ago.

With several teams already battling injuries, there could be a solid market for the shifty wide receiver.
