The Tennessee Titans didn't want to let Ryan Tannehill hit free agency. The team locked up the quarterback to a four-year deal earlier this afternoon.

Tannehill was traded to the Titans one year ago today and subsequently signed to a one-year contract to serve as insurance for Marcus Mariota. He wound up replacing an ineffective Mariota and having the best season of his career.

In 12 games (10 starts), Tannehill completed 70 percent of his passes and threw for 2,742 yards and 22 touchdowns. He earned NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors as he helped Tennessee reach the AFC Championship Game.

Tannehill seems excited to get back to work with the Titans. He shared a message to Tennessee fans on Twitter after news of his deal was announced.

"Tennessee let’s run it back #TITANUP," Tannehill tweeted.

Now, after coming out of nowhere, the pressure is on Tannehill to deliver. He is being paid big money to be the team's starting quarterback.

We'll see how he handles the responsibility.
