There was just a very scary moment in the San Diego Chargers-Denver Broncos game.

Early in the second quarter, Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips was involved in a scary sideline collision. Phillips was carted off the field afterwards, immobilized on a stretcher.

It happened when a Chargers player ran into Phillips during Broncos' cornerback Bradley Roby's interception return for touchdown.

As Phillips was being taken off the field, he moved his hands and gave a thumbs up. The CBS broadcast reported he had movement in all extremities. https://twitter.com/JonHeathNFL/status/792838862666014720 The Broncos lead the Chargers 10-7 in the second quarter. Our best wishes are with Phillips and hopefully he's not injured seriously. Earlier: Phillips reportedly suffered a broken leg in the collision.

That's unfortunate, and it will likely mean he'll have to coach from the booth rather than the field when he returns. Still, things could have been much worse.

Update: So, now it appears Phillips' leg might not be broken after all.

We'll keep you updated with any further developments.
