Despite retiring from coaching back in 2016, former Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak has frequently been mentioned as a candidate for various positions. After reportedly turning down a new coaching role with the Broncos, it looks like Kubiak is going to return to the NFL after all.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Minnesota Vikings are hiring Kubiak in an “offensive advisory role.”
Per the report, Kubiak’s son, Klint, is expected to be named the Vikings’ quarterbacks coach.
Klint spent the last three seasons as an offensive asisstant for the Broncos under Kubiak and his successor Vance Joseph.

Schefter also pointed out that Kubiak tried to recruit Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski to Denver when he was offered a role with the team. In moving to Minnesota, Kubiak gets to work with Stefanski anyway.

Kubiak served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach of the Denver Broncos from 1995 to 2005, winning two Super Bowl titles with his former teammate John Elway.
He was named head coach of the Houston Texans in 2006 and coached the team to its first-ever winning season in 2009, followed by their first-ever playoff appearances with back-to-back AFC South titles in 2011 and 2012.
Kubiak was fired by the Texans in 2013, but soon returned to the head coaching ranks with the Broncos in 2015.
With Peyton Manning leading the team, the Broncos won the Super Bowl in his first year in Denver.
Following a 9-7 season the following year, missing the playoffs in the process, Kubiak retired, reportedly due to health reasons.
