The Chiefs' decision to trade away Tyreek Hill has left them with a massive hole at wide receiver. However, they have plenty of time to bring in reinforcements for the 2022 season.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Chiefs are "inquiring" about Jaguars wide receiver Laviska Shenault. An anonymous head coach told Schultz that it's only a matter of time until Shenault reaches his full potential.
"That kid’s a baller," a head coach told Schultz. "We loved him in the draft. … Only a matter of time before he really pops."
The Jaguars selected Shenault with the No. 42 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. In his first two years with the Jaguars, the Colorado product had 121 catches for 1,219 yards and five touchdowns.
Shenault might not be considered a proven commodity just yet, but there's no denying his talent.
Clearly, the Chiefs' fan base would like to see this move happen.
Perhaps the Chiefs can unlock that untapped potential Shenault has.
For now, the Chiefs' receiving corps features JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, Josh Gordon and Cornell Powell. It'll be interesting to see how they address this position group over the next month.
