It's been five years since the Kansas City Chiefs were picking early in the NFL Draft. But they apparently want to this year and are ready to trade to make it happen.

According to NFL insider Ari Meirov, the Chiefs are one of the most motivated teams looking to trade up in the NFL Draft. Meirov noted that Kansas City have eight picks in the first four rounds and might be eyeing a wide receiver or a defensive player.

The Chiefs have the No. 29 and No. 30 overall picks in this year's draft but have made just one first-round pick in the last four years. They selected Clyde Edwards-Helaire 32nd overall in 2020 and Patrick Mahomes 10th overall in 2017.

But this NFL Draft has some real studs at wide receiver and on defense. If the Chiefs are eyeing a top prospect, they can get one if they move high enough.

Chiefs fans are definitely excited as the prospect of getting a top talent in the 2022 NFL Draft. Chiefs haters - not quite as thrilled by the idea:

The Kansas City Chiefs already have one of the most loaded rosters in the NFL thanks in no small part to savvy drafting by general manager Brett Veach.

A lot of teams are looking to move down according to reports. Perhaps the Chiefs will be able to find someone willing to give them a higher draft spot at a price they can afford.

We'll find out soon.

The 2022 NFL Draft is in just a few hours.
