Kansas City Chiefs Dismiss GM John Dorsey On Same Day They Extended Andy Reid's Contract

You don't often see a team do what the Kansas City Chiefs just did.

On the same day the Chiefs extended the contract of head coach Andy Reid, the organization parted ways with general manager John Dorsey.

Making things more interesting, the team announced both moves within an hour.

Reid has compiled a 43-21 record and led the Chiefs to three playoff appearances in four seasons.

Dorsey, meanwhile, was the GM for the last four years. Clearly, the organization is happier with one of their performances than they are with the other.

The Chiefs are stuck in not-quite-elite status, having won 11 or more games in three of the last four seasons but never advancing past the divisional round.

It will be interesting to see which direction the organization moves in, particularly with its quarterback of the future, Texas Tech rookie Pat Mahomes, waiting in the wings.
