On Thursday night, Kansas City Chiefs fans saw their worst fears realized when star quarterback Patrick Mahomes left the game.
Mahomes attempted a quarterback sneak on the goal line, but was swallowed up by the Denvers Broncos defense. He remained down on the ground after the play, as doctors appeared to pop his dislocated kneecap back into place.
Mahomes walked off the field under his own power, but had a significant limp. Kansas City immediately ruled him out for the rest of the game as he went into the locker room for further testing.
Mahomes' girlfriend, Brittany, is at the game and had a message for fans. She's thankful for the prayers after Mahomes left the game with the knee injury.
According to multiple reports, Mahomes suffered a dislocated knee cap. Further testing reportedly did not show broken bones, but he'll need an MRI to confirm there is no ligament damage in the knee.
Even if there is no ligament damage, it looks like the Chiefs will be without Mahomes for at least a few weeks.
Despite losing him against Denver, the team has responded well and currently holds a 27-6 lead over the Broncos.
Stay tuned for the latest on Mahomes.
