The Kansas City Chiefs ensured that Patrick Mahomes will remain with the franchise for a very long time on Monday, signing the reigning Super Bowl MVP to a 10-year extension that is worth up to $503 million.
Mahomes has quickly become the face of the league due to his incredible arm talent. In just two years as the starting quarterback for the Chiefs he has thrown for over 9,000 yards and 76 touchdowns. He also has an MVP award on his resume at just 24 years old.
Kansas City’s decision to break the bank for Mahomes didn’t surprise anyone, nor did you see any fans complain about his salary. The Texas Tech product is just that good that he warrants making half a billion dollars.
On Friday night, Mahomes went on Twitter to let his fans know how he’s feeling about becoming the highest-paid player in the NFL. He shared the following message: “Let’s get it!”

As long as Mahomes is under center, the Chiefs will be considered contenders. He’s just that dynamic when it comes to pushing the ball downfield and making something out of nothing.
The Chiefs had an excellent offseason, retaining over 80 percent of its starting lineup from Super Bowl LIV. The front office also added a few notable prospects in Willie Gay and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
We’ll see if Mahomes and the Chiefs can successfully defend their title.
