Watch: Aldon Smith Gives Bizarre Interview, Denies Being In Car Accident After Getting Detained By Police

Former Pro Bowl linebacker Aldon Smith has had a tumultuous few years, and it continued on Thursday after he was detained by police.

According to KTVU in San Francisco, Smith was a passenger in a vehicle that hit a police car, and was detained following the incident.

Smith, 27, was detained after he and two other passengers in a Yukon sport utility vehicle were questioned after the vehicle struck an undercover police car on the China Basin Street side of the city’s Public Safety Building around 8:30 a.m., police said.

Smith was detained for public intoxication and expected to be released when he is sober and no charges will be filed, police said. Police said Smith and another man were being driven by Smith's girlfriend, who was later tested for driving under the influence.

Smith was interviewed after being released by police, and it was a very, very strange exchange. He totally denies being involved in the accident at all during the interview. When repeatedly asked about the detainment, he said that "nothing happened."

Smith, who has had multiple run-ins with the law in recent years, last played in 2015 for the Oakland Raiders. He served a one-year suspension from the NFL in 2016, applying for reinstatement to the league on October 27.
