How Much The Raiders Are Reportedly Paying TE Jason Witten

In a move that certainly came as a shock to Dallas Cowboys fans, tight end Jason Witten has signed a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. The longtime Cowboys player who came out of retirement in 2019 to play another year will continue his Hall of Fame career in the AFC.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Witten has signed a one-year deal worth $4 million with $3.5 million fully guaranteed. That sum could reach $4.75 million if Witten reaches incentive bonuses with the Raiders.

Witten started all 16 games for the Cowboys in 2019, and put up decent numbers for the Cowboys to boot. He finished the year with 63 receptions for 529 yards and four touchdowns.

The 37-year-old tight end also moved significantly closer to Tony Gonzalez’s record for receptions by a tight end. With 1,215 receptions in his career, he needs 110 more to tie the Hall of Famer.

Interestingly, in joining the Las Vegas Raiders, Witten would also become the first former ESPN Monday Night Football analyst to play under another former Monday Night Football analyst – Jon Gruden.

But more importantly, Witten offers a security blanket to a Raiders team that is sorely in need of more weapons. He just might find touches hard to find with tight end Darren Waller getting the bulk of snaps.

What kind of numbers will Witten put up with the Raiders in 2020?
