The 2018 season has been a disaster for Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden in his return to coaching. Less than two weeks after the team fired GM Reggie McKenzie, Gruden appears to be getting rid of one of his assistants.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Gruden is firing Raiders strength and conditioning coach Tom Shaw.
Shaw was one of Gruden's initial hirings when he was hired by the Raiders earlier this year.
Offensively and defensively, the Raiders have been atrocious this season.
The offense has been held under 21 points nine times, losing all nine of those games. The defense, meanwhile, has allowed at least 20 points in every game this season, and are on pace to give up a franchise record in points.
If the Raiders lose their final two games against the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs, they will finish at 3-13 and could even have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
We could very well see Jon Gruden get rid of even more coaches as he tries to save his reputation and the long-term future of the franchise.
